We were delighted by the enthusiasm of our visitors to the opening weekend. People loved the historic building and admired the fit out into studios and workspaces. They enthused about the high roofed exhibition hall and the taster display of craftsmanship.

Maggie Smith was awarded the Craft Central prize at this year's Made In Clerkenwell Open Studios (11-14 May) for the Best Body of New Work. The judges were Caroline Jackman from the Crafts Council and Helen Kemp of Just Got Made.

We are moving to The Forge, Westferry Road, Isle of Dogs in late August this year. The Forge, grade 2 listed, was part of the Victorian iron shipbuilding industry. The imaginative conversion by Emrys Architects and iSpace Corporate Interiors places a free standing birch wood construction within the listed walls.

Alice is a Craft Central Network member who works primarily with hot glass. She gained a First Class Hons in Design Crafts in 2016 at De Montfort University where she is currently Artist in Residence.

Mark has been a studio holder with Craft Central for more than twenty-five years. He is a very valued member of our community, taking part in our open studios and exhibitions. He is a regular exhibitor at leading contemporary jewellery fairs such as the Goldsmith’s Fair.

It’s part of a new direction for Craft Central. Our website was last revised ten years ago so it really did need a full overhaul. All the improvements have been made with the user experience firmly in mind. The bold colours and high quality images show off our designer makers’ work.
