Update on our move to The Forge

In May we announced our exciting plans for Craft Central’s move to The Forge in the Isle of Dogs. The build is now well underway to Emrys Architects’ imaginative design and we look forward to being in our new East London home from 1 September. The virtually free standing birchwood frame housing the studios has been made off site and is now being installed. The bleacher seats leading down to the full height exhibition space are nearly finished. This exciting transformation from an industrial building to high quality workjng spaces for our community of designer makers, creatives and start ups is now happening very fast.

Craft Central as a destination

The Isle of Dogs is known for its shipbuilding past and is an area of traditional industry. Through our move we will start to bring design and making back to the area, not just through the creative businesses based in our building, but also through our public programme.  This includes our popular Craft It Yourself workshops, regular exhibition events and other activities of interest to the wider community.
