Open House Weekend Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd September
For the first time Craft Central will be taking part in Open House London. Each year over a quarter of a million people take part in the Open House weekend, visiting over 800 buildings, walks, talks and tours across London. The Forge will be one of these.
You will be able to take a look inside our magnificent 19th century Forge, formerly a part of Millwall Ironworks, and see how it has been imaginatively converted in to 67 studios, shared workspace, desks and an exhibition space.
The local Friends of Island History Trust will present historical photographs from their archive, and will be on hand to talk about the history of the building - and the Isle of Dogs more widely; and the architects, Emrys, will present a display chronicling their designs for the interior of the The Forge as it is today.
Coinciding with Open House will be an exhibition of nineteen international glass & metal artists. They will be showcasing their work in The Forge’s gallery space. This is a great opportunity to see a range of glass art from across the globe in truly unique surroundings.
