Adaku Parker is a barrister turned designer. She is the founder of Dovetailed, an African wax print fabric shop. She designs specialist sewing patterns, clothes making and bag making kits for this type of fabric. 'It was love at first stitch' for her and she hopes it will be for you too
African wax print fabric has been described as a dream to sew with. In this class you will make the Althea skirt. The Althea skirt is an A-line skirt with an integrated elasticated waistband with pockets (because every skirt needs pockets)! It an easy sew with only two pattern pieces. This makes it perfect for beginners whether you are new to sewing, new to African wax prints or both! Pattern matching can be tricky when sewing with wax prints, however, the small number of pattern pieces makes pattern matching a breeze. This skirt has no darts or zips. It has gentle gathers at the waistband. The pattern includes lengthening and shortening lines allowing you to adjust the finished hem to the length of your choice.
Finished length 29" (73 cm).
