The festival of Natural Fibres focusses on exploring sustainable and collaborative ways of working with textiles. This weekend the focus will be on education, finding ways of connecting fashion and textile schools with the makers - farmers, shepherds, spinners and weavers.
Flax and nettle fibre production will play a main role, along with the potential of raw jute and forest silk as contributors to todays fashion world.
The weekend includes panel discussions on both days, workshops, the Gandhian Approach exhibition, Saori Weaving sessions and communal Charkha spinning, amongst a few newer elements. This year we are proud to host a mini film festival on textiles by film makers from around the world and a round table session on circular ways of production and innovation.
The Festival of Natural Fibers is organised by Freeweaver Studio and supported by Khadi London, the Gandhi Foundation and Chelsea College of Arts Textile department
