This introductory drop-in workshop explores casting in a fine concrete like material called Jesmonite. Known for its use as an architectural building material, it has more recently been adopted by artisans to create jewellery, homewares and furniture. Create your own small cacti pot to take home with you. You will learn about the casting process and see examples of different moulds then get to experiment with casting your own mini cacti pot with the introduction of pigmentation, relief, terrazzo and finishing techniques.
The workshop is suitable for adults and children, children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Run by Haidée Drew who is a product designer and educator with a background in contemporary craft, trained in Metalwork at The RCA. Her studio established in 2009 has supplied homewares to the likes of Liberty, Heals and The Conran Shop.
