Role
• To lead on operations, strategy and development across the organisation with a priority on developing new, sustainable income streams while safeguarding the charitable status of the organisation.
• To work closely with the Board of Trustees to plan and develop policies to support the success of the organisation.
• To manage the team with consistent, visible and supportive leadership.
• To increase the profile of the organisation in the Craft sector.

Accountabilities

• Developing and implementing a sustainable business model and overseeing Craft Central’s continued growth and charitable objectives.
• Establishing and maintaining strategic relationships for advocacy and identifying prospective funding opportunities for Craft Central.
• Managing Craft Central’s staff and seeing to their professional development and wellbeing at work.
• Setting the agenda for a programme of exhibitions, events, education and talks and other actions to fulfil the charity’s charitable objectives.
• Managing the occupancy of studio spaces and maximising the potential of a rich and creative community of makers.
• Representing Craft Central and advocating for the organisation both locally and nationally by developing a cohesive communication strategy and key relationships with the sector.
• Working with the Finance Officer to prepare the organisation’s annual budgets, analysing the risks and advising the board of directors on the risks and returns of the financial model.

• Time management skills
• The ability to use judgment to make decisions
• The ability to prioritise between tasks and delegate, where possible
• Excellent planning skills to implement strategies to meet the organisation’s goals.
• The ability to manage and motivate staff
• 7 to 10 years of experience in supervision or management role with a proven track record in leading teams and achieving results.
• On-the-job management experience is essential

Education and Training requirements
• Executive-level management and leadership development programme desirable.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Arts Management or Business Administration desirable.

Working arrangements
The Director will typically work 5 days between Monday and Friday in a 35-hour work week.
