Suzanne Smith is a designer maker of contemporary jewellery and decorative objects. The tradition of taking afternoon tea is a great inspiration for her work, with the food consumed and the tableware used in this ritual providing a varied source of colour, pattern and texture.
Using a variety of materials such as handmade felt, hand dyed vintage lace, gemstones and precious metal; her aim is to interpret the visual qualities of her source material through the design of distinctive and individual wearable works of art. Current creations include vintage chocolate boxes containing individually made felt ‘chocolates’, mixed media ‘fairy cakes’ and ‘sweetie’ jewellery with hand made felt and hand dyed lace.
