Stabo started trading in August 2004. Initially focussing on small colourful accessories, the screen prints which decorate the products have become something of a trademark and now embellish a range of leather wallets, ties, scarves, t-shirts and sweatshirts. The popularity of the small accessories has allowed Ros and Ed, the creative partnership behind Stabo, to expand the product range in directions which reflect their own interests.
Ed’s range of menswear has an old fashioned, worn-in feel using traditional materials such as a thick boot leather for the men’s bag range, waxed cotton for the jackets and for the latest product, hardwearing utility trousers, recycled WWII era bivouac tents. That said the designs all have a contemporary edge. The waxed cag uses the latest splash-proof zips to maximise it’s functionality.
Ros’ product range is much more colourful, the women’s handbags always come in at least 5 colours. Initially launching Stabo with a range of women’s tops it is only in the past 12 months that Ros has been able to return to designing women’s clothing.
All the Stabo product range is manufactured in the UK and wherever possible materials are sourced domestically. Since moving to North Cambridgeshire late 2005 Stabo have built their own workshop which is where all the products are sampled and many are completed.
Stabo sell online from their website and attend London Spitalfields and The Truman Brewery markets on a Sunday.
