Sonia Guzzo launched her first collection of leather handbags in October 2006. Her pieces are highly textured and sculptural thanks to the technique that she applies to the leather and that she developed after long experimenting with the media following her training in Textile Designer at Chelsea College of Art & Design.
Each handbag is unique as handmade and their appeal is enduring. Their functionality is discreetly combined to their artistic qualities, allowing them to be seen as interesting objects in their own right when not used.
Sonia’s work is inspired by the observation of natural forms such as shells,corals, rock formation and fossils which is well reflected in the organic look of her creations. Sonia finds very intriguing the relationship between a flat, smooth surface and the 3D shape which arises casting light and shadows.
