Product of Your Environment is a new company launched by designer Rebecca Chitty at Designersblock, London 2006. An MA graduate of St. Martins College, Rebecca has previously worked as Illustrator, Art Director and Set designer.
Product of Your Environment is proud to announce the arrival of the first ‘family’ of design-led gifts and products for the home. ’The Nostalgia Family’ is a range of 3 products inspired by childhood objects. Products that evoke, like any family member, feelings of compassion, incredulity, love, respect and awe (we won’t mention disgust and envy). Functional, some dysfunctional, all desirable and unexpected, there is always an idea at the heart of the design. While not focusing on a particular method or medium, playing with words and perceptions is central to the work, usually incorporating a subtley subversive dark humour.
Castles in the Sky vase
Build an estate on the beach! A sandcastle bucket is re-invented in the form of a Towerblock and doubles as a vase for a great dinner table conversation piece (with TV aerial and satellite dish accessories).
Exorcise Book
A traditional style school exercise-book is re-incarnated as the ‘Exorcise Book’ with 365 pages for daily demon exorcising! Repeat after me……… ‘I must Exorcise daily’!
JigsawJigsaw
Tradition meets technology with a clash of the jigsaws. An old-fashioned wooden jigsaw carries the image of its electrical power tool namesake. This ‘cutting edge’ (sorry) design is the perfect challenge to complete in between barn conversions.
