From the ridiculous to the sublime I work on the wheel. An experience initially so like sticking your hand up a cows bottom, but also, by contrast to this vulgarity, a transportation that results in finding yourself playing a rhapsody on a finely tuned instrument.
Hand thrown on the wheel, turned and then manipulated or cut, these pieces are made in Porcelain.
Visitors to the workshop are welcome, but please ring to arrange an appointment. We generally have open studio's twice yearly.

In 2001 Jean Lowe invited Louise Bassant and Pam Dodds to share her studio at Lower Halstow. To mark their tenth anniversary Louise, (now following a career in teaching) will return as a guest artist with a selection of her ever-popular ceramic apples, pears and bananas. We also welcome this Christmas, jeweller Nicola Crawford, who is now resident at the Old Reed Bed. Visitors will find on display the usual eclectic mix of high quality ceramics, textiles and jewellery from ten local designer-makers as well as a selection of festive refreshments all in a picturesque creek-side setting.
