French born designer, Mireille, has a passion for developing and exploring textures and three-dimensional textiles through free-machine embroidery, pleating and creation of surface pattern. She is intrigued by the complex and beautiful structures that result from using materials in unique ways. Her work creates innovative and individual textile forms for the interior, which can be used wherever luxury and style are the key considerations. Her textiles can transform basic elements such as lighting, screens, room dividers and window blinds from functional items to three-dimensional living artworks.
Her research of materials and techniques combines industrial techniques of pleating and embroidery with textile handcraft techniques. Application of her approach has also resulted in fascinating forms of textile created using a soldering iron to manipulate thermostatic materials, knitting and pleating unconventional materials such as metal wire and wire mesh. The intrinsic identity of her work is expressed through a balance of design and craft skills, driving the creation of contemporary three-dimensional objects, which explore the boundaries of technology, art and function
Mireille’s designs are handmade, either individual one offs or limited editions, each one a new exploration creating a final piece that is a unique, making a distinctive statement. Through her designs, she offers to private clients, interior designers and architects an individual and exclusive way to apply textiles to interior spaces. She is happy to work with corporate teams to develop an exclusive piece for the company reception or boardroom to enhance the corporate image and express the core values of the organisation in a beautiful, tactile and unusual way. She is keen to work within education programs in schools.
Mireille studied Textile Furnishing Design and Manufacture at London Metropolitan University, graduating in 2003. She was selected for New Designers 2003, for her work inspired from crystalline structures.
