Mary Ann Simmons MA RCA specialises personalised and decorative silverware. Through her work she explores the framing of enclosed space. The volume dictated by the exterior walls becomes as important as the tangible object, which sometimes holds a personal reference; at others encloses something that changes the perception of interior space.
Silver holds special appeal for Mary Ann because of its links with the decorative arts and tableware. Commissions have included pieces made for the actor Kevin Bacon, the King of Greece and private commissions. Her work is held in a number of collections including the Goldsmiths’ Company, the British Museum’s Coins and Medals and the Past Overseers Society of St Margaret and St John the Evangelist Westminster.
