Craft Central

The primary motivation for all Jo’s work is a continuous search for pattern and order.  She builds jewellery structures from pixel like elements creating intricate geometric and tessellating pieces which often interlock when combined.

The complexity of the work and the need for perfect accuracy particularly with interlocking parts has transported Jo from the traditional, ‘craft’ techniques that she originally studied towards new technologies. The computer is now her main tool. Jo constructs her designs in a virtual environment with various 3D modelling programs. Her models are rapid prototyped in Wax and then cast in various metals including 18ct white and yellow gold, stainless steel and silver.

Jo recently graduated with an MA from the Royal College of Art and went on to win the BDC New Designer of the Year Award at the New Designers 2006 exhibition. Her work is currently exhibited at Electrum Gallery in London.
