I started painting on silk in 1986 as a hobby while working as an architect in my native town, Sarajevo. Coming to live in London, in 1995, I soon renewed my painting and joined the local group of artists in Chiswick, in 2001. I had a very good response and decided to dedicate more time to painting. Since then my work developed and expanded to comprise hand made cards, paintings and cushions as well. The scarves however still remained my favourite form.
This new collection was born as a result of my passion for interior design (I graduated at KLC-School of Design this year), and desire to test and explore if we can dress ourselves as we dress our living space and if the same rules, considering colours, apply. Out of these questions came the colour combination for the new collection. As for the motives and patterns they, as always, reflect my background: Subtle weaving of Eastern and Western aesthetics, so typical for Bosnia; my love for Chinese brush painting and my childhood love affair with flowers and plants.
The scarves are made in two dimensions: square (90x90 cm) or long (40x150 cm). They are all made of 100% silk Georgette and hemmed by hand. The dyes are acrylic, iron fixed paints and all my scarves can be hand washed in a mild detergent. I recommend ironing them on the reverse. With proper care they would last you for years giving you a lot of pleasure wearing them in so many different ways.
