Who Is Hannah James?
Hannah James completed a BA in photography at The University of the Arts in London, I worked as a photographer and developed my own art practice, which led me towards ceramics. My work is hand-thrown in Limoges porcelain. My aim is to give each piece a sense of stillness so that my work sits quietly together.

What is the inspiration behind your work?
Large cities always attract conceptual modern artists but so often crafts are over looked. I am interested in how art and craft influence each other. Looking at the work of other makers and forming relationships with other crafts people informs my own work enormously. I feel that London gives me the opportunity to do this; London attracts open-minded people with insightful opinions to offer.

Your Craft London work is?
a collection of shallow porcelain vessels. For this work I have coloured the porcelain using stains and oxides and the clay is left unglazed. Displaying multiple pots together changes the way the work is seen, they are no longer individual pieces but they interact. The piece is called 'In one place'.

Why am I the one to watch?
I'm not sure I can be the judge of that! I love what I do, but I think people should watch what they like.

What does the future hold?
Craft London is the first place I have exhibited my new work with coloured porcelain so hopefully this will lead to more exhibitions and commissions.
