Fisher-Garcia is a London based fashion label set up by two designer friends, Ilya Fisher and Elena García who share a passion for textiles and individuality. We produce unique garments with a high degree of craft. Traditional textile techniques are given a modern twist in order to create beautiful timeless pieces for women of all ages. The clothes are flatteringly cut and made in exquisitely textured materials, such as finest organic silks, linen and wool. We pay special attention to the processes involved in the production from beginning to end, so fabrics are pesticide free and fair trade wherever possible and dyes are metal free and contain no banned amines.
All the textile details are applied by ourselves, we believe these details make our clothes quite special. Our current collection features felting, shibori and cutwork. We use two different styles of felting, in which wool and silk fibres are worked into the fabric, then washed and heated to shrink the wool, resulting in the base fabric gathering up beautifully. Shibori is a whole world of resist dyeing. Here we have restricted ourselves to Kumo shibori or ‘spiderweb’, and a simple tied resist. Our cutwork has a base of silk chiffon onto which a thin satin silk is stitched. Then we cut carefully between all the stitching. Finally the satin is distressed to give the wilder look we like. Each piece is totally unique, all garments can be made bespoke, to the customer’s size and colour preferences.
