Evelin Kasikov is a London-based artist and designer specialising in handmade graphics, typographic illustration and editorial work.
She began her career in advertising but it was not until 2006 when she started to experiment with craft during her MA at Central Saint Martins. Since graduating in 2008 she has been creating handmade illustrations for variety of clients, as well as working on numerous private commissions.
Her work is mainly typographic and aims to explore print through tactile experience, to expose the process of how an image is built and how the internal structure of colour is directly connected to the meaning. Evelin is best known for her unique handmade printing technique: CMYK cross-stitch which combines hand embroidery with colour halftones of traditional 4-colour printing. Evelin's approach to craft is analytical, her labour-intensive handmade works are meticulously precise.
Evelin's work has been featured in many design publications such as It's Nice That, Étapes and UPPERCASE. Her work has been selected for several exhibitions, most recently for Craft Central's Craft Meets Music show together with jewellery designer An Alleweireldt.
Clients include The New York Times Magazine, Dorling Kindersley, A&C Black Publishers, Phaidon Press, Wired Magazine.
