My work is entirely crafted by hand. Using a kick-wheel I specialize in producing hand-thrown porcelain tableware that is delicate and distinctive. Illustration is important to me, with my simple designs evolving from the creative isolation of the studio environment. Working with a range of bright, saturated colours set against pure white porcelain; my latest work celebrates the imperfections of my chosen process, with each piece a unique object. Using a variety of techniques I aim to convey something of the intimacy of my design practice in my finished work.
My influences range from contemporary art to graphic design; however, my cultural and personal experience has had a part to play in the development of my practice.
Born in Yokohama, Japan, I became interested in art and craft at an early age, eventually fulfilling my objective to practice as a ceramicist as an adult.
My work has been published in two books and rock star Pete Doherty is the proud owner of one of my pieces.
