Inspiration
I am inspired by the hidden beauty that can be found in the functional construction of old machinery and tools. With this in mind, I take stainless steel and combine it with contrasting precious metals such as silver and gold to produce clean and crisp designs.
The finished pieces are made using a combination of manual engineering methods and traditional jewellery techniques. The steel is turned on a lathe or fabricated on a mill . The design is then made by drilling a sequence of holes which are inlaid with a softer metal, usually sterling silver or 18 ct gold.
The range currently comprises of cufflinks, tie pins, collar stiffners and rings in the men’s range and ladies brooches, necklaces, pendants, rings and earrings. I produce work in small batch quantities but often make one off special pieces and individual pieces for commission.
