Atelier Annick ltd is the creation of Annick Adjo, the designer.
Having worked for Giorgio Armani, Harrods, before running the Luxury Goods department at the Financial Times in Paris, Annick decided to set up her own company designing Handbags.
Born and raised in Paris, Annick originates from the Ivory Coast in West Africa. She now lives in London where she designs and produces her handbags.
Atelier Annick’s handbags are the meeting of two very different cultures. The aim of the brand is to bring a breath of fresh air to the buoyant accessory industry, by designing classic shapes with an African twist, while emphasising clean simple lines.
The textiles are hand-woven by African craftsmen using the kente method. Most of the fabrics are exclusively printed for Atelier Annick in Africa, using traditional techniques. This leads to some styles being produced in Limited Edition only.
The linings are made of unexpected colourful cotton prints or suede.
These original materials are mixed with the finest leather or silk fabric found in Europe, and add to the luxurious feel to create an individual, elegant piece of work with a story to tell.
Commissions are welcome and some items can be customised with African embellishment or Swarovski crystals.
Annick was inspired to fuse the vibrancy of Africa with the craftsmanship of Europe to create a classic collection of designer handbags which brings the influences of Africa into the mainstream of European culture. In November last year, Annick launched her Atelier Annick line producing handbags that incorporate kente strips from the Ivory Coast (West Africa) with soft leather, handmade by specialists in London.
