Why am I the one to watch?
Angela's clever designs of bringing precious and semi precious stones into a playful yet beautiful pieces of wearable jewellery has won her many design awards, including the Crafts Council Setting Up Grant, and the Janet Fitch Jewellery Award at Chelsea Crafts Fair.
What is your inspiration?
Angela finds inspirations from playing with many mechanical parts – such as ball bearings, cogs, and children’s toys. Angela has always been drawn to movement, interaction between
jewellery and wearer. The function, adaptability and an surprise play a very important role in her designs.
Details about the collections you will be exhibiting at Brilliance…
Angela would like to exhibit the Glide and Slide along with new work above Slide rings – titanium rings that are wire eroded (a more precise technique with a cleaner finish than lazer cutting). The stones also move in the cage of three identical panels riveted in tiny 18ct gold wire.
Angela would like to launch the Spin range in Platinum – where the stones (in this case a brilliant cut diamond) are suspended in the arms of the ring band – purely by tension of the strength of the stainless steel – and thus spins as and when the wearer takes the fancy / or moves the finger.
What does the future hold?
Angela is keen to explore CAD and Rapid prototyping and other cutting edge technologies - to enable her to create more adventurous designs while using more precious materials - to achieve her trademark simple and elegant looking yet playful jewellery.
