Having undertaken the City & Guilds Certificate and Diploma, Amy graduated from London Metropolitan University in June 2007. During her time there she developed an interest in using images in jewellery and particularly vintage postcards and photographs.
Inspired by sentimental jewellery of the Victorian and Georgian era and the photographed characters from vintage postcards, circa 1920’s-30’s, Amy makes contemporary jewellery with a nostalgic narrative.
Sometimes setting the images behind stones and glass to include them as precious elements, and sometimes using photo-etching to create the suggestion of a modern cameo.
Taking further inspiration from the messages written on the reverse of these postcards, Amy designs her jewellery to try to reflect the romantic sentiment with which they were originally sent, often incorporating the messages themselves.
Amy’s jewellery has exhibited at numerous craft and jewellery shows around the country and her jewellery is available through galleries such as @Work Gallery Brick Lane and Jewel Thief Gallery in Brighton.
