Hand-printed and home-made ethical interior and fashion accessories
amy aardvark hand-draws, designs and prints on ethically sound materials to create quirky, colourful and original fabrics. Inspired by 'lost and found' and everyday objects, these beautiful designs are then hand-made into unique life-style and fashion accessories, offering a stunning alternative to the mass-produced and generic.
Careful consideration of colour, fabric and design enables Amy to experiment and manipulate the printing process to ensure that each piece is original.
An ethical approach to designing and making has been adopted. amy aardvark sources hand-woven, organic, fair-trade cottons and denims, vintage and pre-loved fabrics for her work. The designs are printed using water-based inks, which are less destructive to the environment and she cycles with Jp to market every Sunday to keep their carbon footprint small.
Print runs remain small as repeat orders on particular fabrics cannot be guaranteed. As each piece is handmade, they are all unique, with vintage buttons, hand-beading and appliqué adding individuality. amy aardvark produces limited edition print runs on all of her designs, freeing her to continue drawing and developing the range whilst maintaining a collectable element to her work.
Additional projects include recycling and re-upholstery of pre-loved furniture. Alternative colours and sizes can be made to order and commissions are welcomed. A bespoke design service is also available.
