Alison Ibbs has been called a 'Modern Primitive' due to her use of ancient forging, or hammering techniques. Employing this 5000 year-old process, Alison creates unique and exciting handmade contemporary designs in 18ct gold and sterling silver.
Forging transforms wire, rod and bar into a flowing line that changes planes and smoothly graduates from thick to thin, resembling calligraphy more than solid metal.
Alison's precision hammer blows produce tiny facets that capture and reflect light. These pieces come alive when worn, for as the wearer moves, light dances over the piece.
Originally from New York, Alison has designed jewellery for Donna Karan NY and stockists included Henri Bendel, Fifth Ave. NY.
Alison works in sterling silver and 18ct gold. Commissions are accepted.
