Alex Monroe established his London studios in 1987. He now enjoys world-wide success selling jewellery throughout Asia, Europe and America. In the U.K. his work can be seen in Liberty, Fenwicks, EC One, Paul and Jo and other select stores. Along side his latest collections of jewellery, Alex designs for Industry, Film and Television. The business remains small and friendly despite an ever increasing demand. He is married with three daughters and lives in Camberwell, South London.

Alex’s work is delicate, pretty and English in style. It is inspired by the simple beauty of nature and the passion of religion. Alex's love for gardening and nature is apparent, with little roses and wildflowers. His tiaras are a mass of intertwined wildflowers in gold and silver, in a romantic pre-Raphaelite style. More recent work takes a nostalgic look at Englishness; grasses and ferns mixed with dragonflies and bees. It is essentially a sentimental, tongue-in-cheek look at a lost time and place. 'The most important thing is to maintain quality at all times. Although I am interested in fashion I hope that I am using a design language that defies time'

And the future? 'I'm doing some fantastic floral wreath rings in 18 carat and great big diamonds. We are designing a whole new collection for a huge Birmingham based manufacturer, tea services for Fortnum and Mason……..it's the best job in the world!'.
